Imara Heritage was created between Kenya and Denmark with a simple vision:

to build a bridge between Africa and Scandinavia through culture, craftsmanship, and storytelling.

What began with a love for East African traditions and design grew into a deeper mission —

to share the beauty, artistry, and heritage often overlooked outside the continent.

Our story begins in Nairobi, in a small room full of colorful fabrics, a couple of sowing machines, and a handful of very skilled tailors.

We were set on bringing the newest piece of Kenyan fashion to scandinavia, the backless dera!

Together with the tailors we went through several types of fabrics, colors and designs, and we are now very proud to share the result with you.

The backless dera is only the first item of many more to come, every piece is chosen with intention — carrying a story of heritage, identity, and craftsmanship.

Our goal is not only to offer carefully selected products from Africa, but to create connection:

between cultures, between people, and between tradition and modern living.
